01 · The challenge

Tier-1 colleges got everything. Tier-3 candidates got nothing.

Axion's campus drive had an honesty problem. The talent team could only physically visit 22 colleges in an 8-week window — heavily skewed toward Tier-1 institutions. Tier-2 and Tier-3 candidates either didn't get evaluated at all, or got a rushed 10-minute panel during a single combined campus day. The leadership had been asking for years: are we missing engineers because of geography, not ability?

02 · What they did

Sent a link to every candidate, regardless of where they studied.

Axion built a 20-minute technical aptitude round in AI Interviewer, scored on Problem Decomposition, Communication, Code Reasoning, and Ownership. The round was opened in 5 languages (English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada). Every candidate from every campus — Tier 1 through 3 — got the same link with 7-day validity. The shortlist that emerged ranked purely on score; the talent team flew only to campuses with strong concentrations of top scorers.
